HIGH POTENTIAL TEAM
(But left early)

David James
(first team All-KCAC, set freshman scoring record, but just didn't like KS.
   Graduated from Grand Canyon University.)
Joey Vasquez
(great scorer at San Antonio Burbank HS, but left after freshman season as was
playing behind Phox & Bingesser.  Teaching and coaching in San Antonio.)
Carl Ellis
(went through all of the preseason killer stuff and decided right before season
"Coach, you know all that hard work, dedication stuff isn't me!"    Graduated
   KWU in four years.)
Barney Gray
('86 Champion, 4 year letterman, 2-time dunk champion, graduated Jan in 3 1/2
   years KWU)
Jeremiah "Big O" Ostmeyer
(Starter, 2 year letterman, All-Academic.  Worried couldn't get into Med School
from KWU.  Graduated FHSU & Medical School-Now Dr. O'.)
Korey Klingenberg
(NSCAA All-American, followed future wife to KSU.  Graduated KSU)
Michael Bell
(Big time scorer at Rossville HS KS.  Two year starter at KWU.  Had his
reasons.  Graduated from Emporia State where he was grad asst. for
   nationally ranked women's program.)
Brad Emme
(All-KCAC, national leader in blocked shots-KWU record.)
Danny Thomas
(All-KCAC, NSCAA All-Star, KCAC Champion, NSCAA National Champion.
wife preferred to return to Utah.  Graduated and earned Master's degree Utah.
Could score from anywhere on the floor and often did.  Tremendous passer
   and rebounder.)
Matthew "Diesel" Broyles
(All-KCAC, three-year starter.  Graduated KWU with year elgibility left.
"What more could I do, Coach.  I've already been All-KCAC a couple of
times and I can finish up this spring with an overload?
Next year KWU won KCAC & NSCAA National Championship and went to
an all-expenses paid trip to Japan for 14 games.  Likely All-American)
Nate Lindberg
Started every game and led KWU in scoring  and rebounding after transfering
from Colby CC.  (Left campus nearly every weekend to meet girl friend still
at Colby.  When she moved on to Fort Hays State, so did Nate.  Graduated
   from FHSU.
Kenya Carruthers
Transferred from Iona College, NCAA D-I, where he averaged 11 points a game.
Led KWU in just about every category and was most talented and gifted player
in the KCAC at 6'8", 245.  Academic transistion from D-1 was too abrupt; so
after one semester, KC moved on to the Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs of the
  Continental Basketball Association.)
Eric Chaves:  Snazzy point guard from Florida who was only player on high school team junior and senior year who did not go on to NCAA Division I.  Transferred to KWU in January after being recruited and scouted by Jones at Florida State Championship finals for two years.  Left in coaching change as wasn't going to be on bench behind a guy who couldn't make his high school team (and he was right-Jones).  Graduated at Univ. Central Florida.
